Sea dike

The Navy defended the sea dike of the Southern Sea against alien landings. De wet lands behind the dike made a landing and troop movements very difficult. Nonetheless several temporarily entranchements were planned for.
In 1932, the Enclosing Dike or Great Dike was completed and the Southern sea became a lake, the Lake IJssel. Landings became even more unlikely and defences were scaled down.

Battery near Uitdam

A coastal battery, similar to the Battery near Diemerdam and the Battery near Durgerdam, was planned in 1890. It would have had four 15 cm guns and housed 40 men. It is unlikely the battery was built with concrete but probably as earthwork like they were in use in e.g. 1916. There are no known remains.

Inundation dikes Beemster

The polder Beemster would be split into three different inundation-areas by two inundationdikes which used existing or highered roads. Seven bridges with damsluices would contain the water into one area. The area in the southeast would stay dry while the northern area could be slightly inundated. Apart from the military inlet sluice, one bridge with damsluice remains and one closable pipe under a road. The higher level of the roadparts isn't really noticable. Most works were constructed between 1884 and 1900.
